About BHSI Kangan Ganderbal

Boys Higher Secondary Institute (BHSI) Kangan was established in 1962 and elevated to Higher Secondary status in 1982. Located in the scenic town of Kangan in District Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, the school stands as a prestigious all-boys institution dedicated to shaping young minds. The institute is situated along the Srinagar-Leh highway, making it easily accessible, and serves students from Kangan and surrounding areas of central Kashmir.

The institute offers education from grades 9th to 12th with multiple streams including Science, Arts, and Commerce at the Higher Secondary level. Our campus features modern infrastructure including well-equipped Science Laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), a state-of-the-art Computer Lab with internet facility, Smart Classrooms with digital learning resources, a well-stocked Library with over 5000 books, and a dedicated Sports Ground for outdoor activities. School Uniform

BOYS: Black Formal pants, White Shirt, Black Shoes with White Socks, School Branded Black Belt, Striped Black Tie, Black Sweater or Blazer.

Sports Uniform: Navy Blue Track Pants, White T-Shirt with School Logo, White Sports Shoes.

Prohibitions and Bans

  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited as per court orders
  • Use of alcohol, tobacco, and its products is banned on campus
  • Mobile phones are prohibited in classrooms and examination halls
  • Entry through main gate only with valid school ID card
  • Prescribed uniform is mandatory for all students
  • Vehicles are not permitted for students below 18 years

Institute History & Achievements

Boys Higher Secondary Institute Kangan has a proud legacy of educational excellence spanning over six decades. Established in 1962 as a Middle School, it was upgraded to High School in 1972 and finally to Higher Secondary School in 1982. Since its inception, the institute has been a cornerstone of boys' education in the Ganderbal district, consistently producing outstanding results in Board examinations with many students securing top positions at the district and divisional levels.

The institution takes pride in its distinguished alumni who have excelled in various fields including medicine, engineering, civil services, education, and technology. Many of our former students are now serving as doctors, engineers, teachers, administrators, and entrepreneurs across India and abroad, contributing significantly to society. The institute has nurtured numerous leaders, scholars, and professionals who have brought laurels to their families and the region.

Our institute has been recognized for excellence in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. We have received numerous awards including the Best School Award from the Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal, for multiple consecutive years.
